Mississippi Alluvial Valley, ARKANSAS, USA

Project Type: Reforestation

Carbon Registry: American Carbon Registry

The GreenTrees program aims to restore degraded lands back to their original forest ecosystem in the Mississippi lower valley that spans across Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois. This area was once covered by 25 million acres of forest. Now, less than 5 million acres remain which has significantly affected the ecosystem.

In addition to producing verified carbon credits, this reforestation project delivers immense benefits for the environment as well as communities. Additionally, this project creates decent work and economic growth to a low income region in the United States.
